Route 15 trolley woes
Pol derails $82 million project.
There is a third solution to the problem -- the trolley tracks can be moved so that they don't run right down the center of the street. To my admittedly untrained eye, it does seem like there would be room on the side of the street to accomodate a trolley (PCC trolleys are less than 8 feet wide). That is, the width of the street does not appear to be the issue that the above article makes it out to be. Of course, such a project would be terribly inconvenient for the residents of 59th Street. As I live in a parking-deprived neighborhood myself, I can certainly sympathize with their plight.

I grew up taking the Route 13 trolley into Center City from our home in Southwest. I think that this is disgraceful. Until we start to have living cities and decent public transportation, we're never going to recover as a society.
